Super Rich Taking a Dive

Anybody can buy a Leer jet of a private helicopter, but how many people have their own private luxury submarine? Not many, but if Bruce Jones, owner of the company U.S. Submarines, has anything to say about it, that number is bound to increase in coming years. Jones, who has been building luxury submersibles and underwater habitats since 1993, encourages his clients (who are rumored to include millionaires Paul Allen, Roman Abramovich, and wealthy film director James Cameron) to choose specific features according to their needs and their taste for extravagance.
Some luxury submarines can stay submerged for up to 20 days and can be fitted onto a large yacht. Prices start at $1 million and climb as high as $78 million, with the most expensive ones having as much as 5,000 square feet of living space and up to four levels. If want one, keep in mind that you will also need to hire a crew to run it—or they will have to obtain submarine certification themselves through the American Bureau of Shipping.
