Summer Fair Luxury Market in Moscow
June 30th, 2009 by Simon Salt
Held in Moscow for the first time, the Summer Fair is a scaled down version of the large luxury market, the Millionaire Fair. “It’s definitely smaller, but the level of the participants is higher,” said Yelena Kudozova, the managing director of the Millionaire Fair. She listed jewelry brand Piaget and carmakers McClaren as exhibitors. Playing up the exclusivity of the event, the fair was held at the Royal Bar yacht club on the bank of the Moscow River. The yacht club has sand imported from the Maldives to make an artificial beach.
The items on sale ranged from rare Serval kittens, at $15,000, to a fabulously expensive wedding dress that will cost you more than $1 million. Other items on sale at the fair included a Ferrari F430 Stealth Limited for 280,000 euros and a Mercedes equipped with television screens, PlayStation, fridge and bar for 165,000 euros ($230,000). Traders alleged there’s still a market for these high-end luxury goods.
