June 14th, 2009 by Simon Salt
Roman Abramovich’s highly anticipated mega yacht “Eclipse ,” boasted as the world’s biggest yacht, has finally made its preliminary launch at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany where it was being built secretly for over two years. The 170-meter yacht (557.6 feet) will feature, not one, but 2 heli-pads, a pool with large Havana bars surrounding it, restaurant, library, a cinema, private garden, 5,000-square-foot master suite, a private submarine, and a missile-detection system to fend off pirate attacks safely.
The 9-deck megayacht has at least five possible exits, which makes it virtually the safest yacht ever built. This 557-foot, $350 million mega yacht will undergo additional construction and will be delivered to the new owner in 2010.
