Ritz Carleton Inaugural Package
January 19th, 2009 by Simon Salt
The Inaugural rhetoric of President Barack Obama will likely focus on bringing Americans of all income levels and socio-economic statuses together, and certainly the nation’s capital will be full up with pretty much everybody who can get there and find a place to stay, wealthy or not, but it’s not as if luxury is completely dead in the populist water this week.
The D.C Ritz Carleton hotel announced recently that it has sold a $99,000 Inaugural package which includes four nights in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Georgetown’s Presidential suite, a set of Gucci luggage, two tickets to the parade and official ball. After the actual inauguration festivities are over and done with, the buyers of the $99,000 package will also have a four-night stay at the Ritz in Grand Cayman to warm up from the D.C. winter. (Inaugural balls are so stressful, after all. You can’t just go right home.) No word has come down from the Ritz on who purchased the posh package, but it probably isn’t the outgoing President. He can always stay at Blair House—if it isn’t already booked out to some ex-Prime Minister.
