Luxury Animal Hospital
January 16th, 2009 by Simon Salt
Veterinarian Ken Schenck doesn’t want to build just any animal hospital. Instead, the Sacramento animal doctor is planning a 27,000 square foot luxury facility with a portico entrance for easy drop-offs of pets needing medical care, as well as grooming, day care or boarding. The building will feature a 43 foot high tower with a lighted heart and a paw—Dr. Schenck’s trademark logo—and will have nighttime emergency hours as well as normal daytime appointment slots.
Inside, the hospital will feature artificial turf indoor play areas and dog runs, “luxury suites” for animal guests, and even luxury rooms for humans who want to stay close by when their pets are checked in overnight for surgical procedures. Each luxury pet suite will have a bed and a TV tuned to Animal Planet, and will be hooked up to mini-cams so owners can go online and check in on their pets any hour of the day or night. Schenck expects construction to begin in the spring of 2009 with the grand opening set by the end of the year.
