The trend over the last several years has been towards increasingly high end appliances, with the most recent upgrades impacting washing machines and dryers. The LG Electronics Steam Washer is a new arrival on the scene, advertising itself as the washer of choice for the hypoallergenic and the germ phobic customer who wants clothes that are clean at a level that would make a lab rat happy. Instead of sloshing clothes around in soapy water, the LG Electronics Steam Washer uses hot steam to penetrate fabrics and kill germs while removing visible dirt, and claims to reduce allergens by more than 95%.
Other premium features include an extra wide door opening, a larger load capacity, sensors that determine the amount of detergent and water hardness and make automatic adjustments to the wash and rinse process, and a SteamFresh Cycle that lets you refresh and reduce wrinkles in up to 5 garments at one time. The LG Electronics Steam Washer retails for about $1600.
