Hello Kitty Gets Own Currency?

As far as 500 shops are concerned, making use of Hello Kitty money is as good as cold cash! But before you go on and praise Hello Kitty, this is just a marketing ploy. Hello Kitty is not going to be the new face of Japanese currency but will instead be a collector’s item. Only 30,000 1,000 Yen notes and 30,000 500 Yen coins will be issued.
