Fastest Camera is a STEAM Camera

Make way for the fastest snapping camera today thanks to the UCLA team of researchers. The STEAM camera can reportedly take more than 6 million pictures in one second. According to an interview with Wired Goda, it was stated that it is the world’s fastest camera. The special camera is being developed for scientific testing and research studies.
STEAM is an acronym that stands for serial time encoded amplified microscopy. The technology eliminates the problem of light sensitivity and speed of the shutter by using infrared lasers to bounce light off objects. The world’s fastest camera takes 6.1 million pictures in a single second — with a shutter speed of 440 trillionths of a second.
The STEAM camera does have limitations at this point of its development. The camera produces pictures composed of just 3,000 pixels compared to multimillion-pixel photographs produced by standard digital cameras.
