eBay Fined 1.7 Million EUROS for Illegal Perfume Sales

November 30th, 2009 by Brian

No thanks to perhaps an overlooked issue regarding branded perfume sales, eBay has been fined 1.7 million EUROS by a Paris court for failing to control users from selling branded perfumes at its sight. The problem was traced to illegal perfume sales which were under the LVMH brand. Since 2008, eBay was prohibited from selling such branded perfumes. LVMH owns exclusive brands like Louis Vuitton, Moet Hennessy, Givenchy and Christian Dior. eBay is planning to appeal the decision and they better have good cause and lawyers to back them up on this one!
