Cadillac Escalade
February 15th, 2009 by Simon Salt
A Cadillac Escalade is a really big, really expensive SUV/truck that gets horrible mileage, but if you’re in the market for an Escalade, you’re usually not worrying about the EPA fuel efficiency rating. The Escalade is the ultimate ‘bling’-mobile, so why on earth would anyone want an eco-Escalade? Doesn’t that go against the whole point of owning an Escalade? Actually, eco-chic is the new wave in luxury, and Cadillac is banking on it staying that way for awhile with the release of the first Escalade Hybrid.
An Escalade Hybrid gets about 20 MPG in the city, which is a 50% improvement over the EPA rating of a regular gasoline-powered Escalade, which on a good day might get 12 or 13 MPG in traffic. Still, if you want your bling without a side of guilt, it’s good to know you can have it—for a price. A 2009 Cadillac Hybrid Escalade starts at $73,475.
