Bathroom’s Galore
December 31st, 2008 by Simon Salt
How many toilets does your house have? If it’s less that 26, you’d better get a move on: Russian billionaire Valery Kogan is planning a 21,000 square foot home on Simon lake in Greenwich Connecticut that includes 26 toilets and will be the largest home ever built there, far exceeding the square footage of any other personal lake home in Greenwich history. The mansion is actually a second home for the Kogans, and will also include Turkish and Finnish baths, servants’ quarters, and an indoor swimming pool, and has been custom-designed by affluent architect Richard Granoff.
The home will sit on seven acres and take approximately 18 months to build, including 300 loads of gravel to fill in the basement of the tear-down the home will replace. The press has picked up on the Kogans’ lavish plans, making the city of Greenwich squeamish about approving the zoning changes. The Kogans’ application was postponed indefinitely by the City Commission in December of 2008.
